Sarah wanted her and Hunter’s engagement session to be very unique to them. She specifically wanted to re-create a photo from her mom and dad’s engagement session. When she told me about this idea, I loved it. I’m a sentimental sap, so capturing this moment for her and Hunter was necessary. Re-creating photos for family members to look at can be cherished for many generations. Generation sentiment brings families closer together by capturing authentic moments with a simple photograph.

Recently, I had the distinct pleasure of documenting the engagement of Sarah and Hunter, a couple whose connection radiated with an effortless authenticity. Their vision for their engagement photos was clear: they desired a visual narrative that mirrored who they were as a couple. Rock Island State Park is where we chose to take pictures for their engagement photos.
One of Sarah’s requests was to recreate an engagement photo from her parents’ engagement session. Incorporating sentimental aspects during a photoshoot is always a plus for me because I tend to be a sentimental sap. Sarah also requested poses that represented her and Hunter as a couple. A journalistic photography style is a great approach to achieving more natural poses.

This sweet couple wanted to be around nature for their engagement session. Bee rock was the perfect location to take their engagement photos. The rain was a bonus nature vibe that added a whole mood to their photos. I highly recommend this location for a couples shoot, especially if you're wanting to be surrounded by nature.

These pictures truly glisten of this couple. The golden hour sunset made every picture glow and all the colors pop, which is what I love. They only booked a mini session, and that is really all they needed. They photographed so well that they didn't need an entire hour and that is something I do offer to my clients. If you only want to book a mini session that is an option.

Golden hour for this session was absolutely perfect. It provided so much mood and brought out all the colors. These two were a blast to shoot and you can see the genuine love between the two in every photograph. I love meeting couples that have fun during their session, even if having their pictures made isn’t their favorite thing to do.

I hope everyone else is cheering their way into this New Year. This couple was an absolute blast during their engagement shoot. They let themselves enjoy each other and had lots of laughs, genuine laughs. People tend to overthink their session and what they should do during their shoot. My advice is genuinely to be yourself and let yourself have fun with your photos. You want to look back on your engagement photos and remember your session being a fun time. Bring a beer and have some fun.

I absolutely love it when couples include their pets with their portraits. Fur babies are a big part of families so of course, they should be in family photos. I took this couples engagement pictures and now it’s almost a year later and they are just as happy as their engagement session. If you have pets, I encourage you to bring them so you have photos of them to look back on for memories.

Sixty years together is a long time. Especially in today’s society where getting married just seems so casual. I love capturing love stories like this. This couple right here is the true definition of #couplegoals. Love is sacred, but love is not easy. At the end of the day, remembering to laugh, respect, and enjoy each other is what’s most important.
